"a race of joy, a race of wonder"
"The marathon never ceases to be a race of joy, a race of wonder." [Hal Higdon, running writer and coach]

On Saturday 21st December two of our senior students (Ajesh & Rajesh) will compete in the Kathmandu Marathon as a fundraising effort for IGWR-Nepal; and one of the delights of their commitment in participating is that it reflects a generosity of spirit that is very much the model that Raja (who is the director of IGWR-Nepal) lives and teaches.
It is more than an endurance race, for it is a test of who we are and who we are becoming, it is one of the many life journeys that shape us and that enable us to know ourselves.
We all compete in life's race ,however many take shortcuts or look for free rides; only those that give of themselves for the benefit of others realise fully that life itself is "a race of joy, a race of wonder."
As we look toward a new year, and a new decade, maybe we too should reflect on the journey, the marathon, that lies ahead and, like Ajesh and Rajesh, look for where we can compete in supporting others.
"The more you frame the marathon as a stressful experience, the more negative messages you'll receive. But it's just as easy to frame it as a positively challenging journey." [Jeff Galloway, U.S. Olympian, running writer, and coach]
